ZAPPHY - You guys were awarded with two multi-platinum albums, your song "Heaven" reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and all your albums sold over 8 (eight) million records sold worldwide! But what happened to the band in the 90's? Was there a moment when someone or everybody said, "I had enough of this?" Was it getting more and more difficult to work and live together as a band?
Jerry Dixon - No not at all. What happened was a natural change in the business end . The 80's had run it's coarse and it was time for the labels to capitalize on something new. That was Grunge.
ZAPPHY - "Dog eat dog" does the name of the album "Dog eat dog" have any relation to the problems that the band was going through in the 90's? I ask this because on the same year the band made a breakthrough in Europe, Lane dropped out from the band and if I am not taking by mistake, the band was dropped from Columbia.
Jerry Dixon - I guess it does looking back. At the time though , we where really trying to establish the band as "real" not just bubble gum rock. Unfortunately the record worked but the timing was about 6 months late. Lane is just Lane..that's what singers do. Love it or hate it. It's rock and roll
ZAPPHY - Why didn't the album "Ultraphobic" work out? I heard some songs from it and it is pretty good! What didn't happen? It wasn't an appropriate moment to release it? What did the band miss in this particular work?
Jerry Dixon - Once again people don't realize that 90% of your success is luck and timing. This was a great record in my opinion but it did sell out a little to the grunge side. If you can't beet them join them .However by this time the industry was already on to the next thing and Warrant fans where confused. Sorry kids we tried..still a damn good effort though.
ZAPPHY Lane isn't part of the band anymore. I have read that the band understood that he wasn't putting much of himself while on stage. Is that true?
Jerry Dixon - In my opinion Lane never was a part of Warrant. He always seemed to have his own agenda. Which is fine but not in a band. So looking back at what just happened "again" some things never change.
ZAPPHY - Even though the last album released from the band happened in 1999, you guys still have some songs that are part of many love albums released here in Brazil. Many fans always ask me when the brazilian fans will be able to see you guys here! Is that something possible in a near future?
Jerry Dixon - Yes absolutely. We hope to tour the world now that we have 5 dependable members. When things are shaky the last thing you can plan on doing is traveling to another country. Hell we had a hard time playing LA.
ZAPPHY - I've heard that this year was very special for the band and that you are thinking about releasing a new album. Can you share a little bit of what is in your mind now? Will this new album be something totally different from everything we have heard from Warrant, or will have a little bit from the past?
Jerry Dixon - I hope it will be written like the past but sound like the future.
ZAPPHY - The American market, in my opinion went crazy after the grunge "fad". Now, I can see many bands from the 80's and 90's getting back and making ah huge success again! It is time to show people that the good rock has never died?
Jerry Dixon - We don't die..we just go in and out of fashion...Thanks for your support and we will see you soon.
